Sherman Township (Sedgwick Cnty), KS, is a small rural community with a population of around 1,000. The local government consists of a Town Board made up of three elected officials who serve four-year terms, and a Clerk/Treasurer that is elected to serve two-year terms. Currently, the three Town Board members are: Mary Johnson, Mark Smith, and Dan Edwards. Mary Johnson has served as the chair of the board since her election in 2018. The Town Board meets regularly to discuss important matters relating to the township such as budgeting, zoning ordinances, regulations for development and other issues that affect the day-to-day life of Sherman Township’s citizens. The Clerk/Treasurer is responsible for maintaining records and managing finances for the township. In addition to these roles, the Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services for Sherman Township citizens. All of the local political candidates have dedicated their time to ensure that Sherman Township remains safe and prosperous.
